I am trying to get more power out of my evinrude 9.9 hp. I have heard that I can change the carb and or reeds. Is it worth it, or is that the most I will get out of that motor

Hi Gary<br /><br />I've seen this question come up a lot and I've yet to see or hear any expert on the subject say that it's a financially easy or wise thing to do. It's much cheaper and easier to just buy a bigger engine.<br /><br />Best thing is to make sure that your engine is tuned to perfection before making a decision like that.<br /><br />Just my 2 cents...

Hello.<br />The safest way to get more out of your engine is by fine tuning it .Make sure your points are set right and that you are properly synchronized.Use a higher grade fuel and make sure your plugs and carburator are as well taken care of as can be.Most other things you can do are likely to shorten your engine life.<br />A possible improvement might be getting the exact prop for your setup.<br />good luck.

9.9 and 15 hp outboards are generally the same except for the carburetor.

Not correct, JS2. Check out the parts lists and measure the port timing.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB
