I have a 1988 Force 125. It runs great but I am looking for a little more out of it. I've tried finding performance upgrades but even stock replacements are difficult to find for this motor. Any ideas?

Re: More performance

SUPPOSEDLY---Boyeson reeds will increase performance. However, I was never impressed with them at about 125 per set.

IF you want to disassemble the engine, you can square the bypass ports and gain a few HP more. DO NOT touch exhaust ports. On the 4 cylinder engines, this will actually decrease performance.

You can mill the head up to .060 for higher compression but I would not recommend this as you may cause detonation with low octane fuel.

BOLT ON a 2 to 1 ratio lower unit from a 90 HP engine and increase prop pitch by 2. you should gain a net speed increase of between 3 and 5 MPH.

No modifications to the carbs, intake manifolds or reed blocks will yeild any increase in power.

Look for a good used late Chrysler 140 block and bolt it to your leg. It beats the 125 all hollow.

Like Roscoe said--it is what it is.
