I have a Morse shift controller that has 2 cables, one for throttle & one for shift . I took them off to do some work on the boat. I removed both cables ,now I put them back on and I'm lost. When I pull the shift button out the I can move the throttle forward with no problem like when i start it . What I can't understand is how when I put it in forward or reverse the throttle works. The arm wants to move in both directions on the throttle , how can that be? The cable only moves about 4 inches from idle to full throttle ,shouldn't the Throttle arm move the same way in both directions. This is a OMC stringer and it work perfectly before I took the cables off ,the cable are on the right spots too.
Thanks' Beef

What type of shift and remote do you have? Stringer had a few different shift systems and several different remotes.

It's a single lever Morse side shift mounted vertical in closed in a box that mounts to the side rail of the boat (22' Skiff Craft)
The casting # on it is B42924, It's for a OMC manual shift 800 Stringer. That's all the information I found on it. There is the shift & throttle handle and a push pull aluminum button below . You pull it out to start , you can pump the throttle , when running you push the button in and move lever ether forward or reverse. first goes in gear then you have throttle. What I can't for the life of me figure out is how the throttle arm that the throttle cable is connected to can move both directions .
when I pull the throttle cable at the shiftier end out the throttle at the carb. closes push in full throttle at the carb, my question is how that throttle arm can move both directions? I did not take it apart all I did was remove the cables and controller to re-vinyl the box now I can't figure out why it won't work , i had no problems with it till now . If anyone was information on this Controller even a model # please let me know.
Thanks'

Ayuh,.... The Throttle should only move in one direction, regardless which way ya move the lever,....

Only the shifter cable moves both ways,....

Found out what is wrong ,there is a center cable bracket that has a brass screw that holds it on the shift unit UPDATE and the cable arm goes straight back , that will allow the cable to work both ways. Now I have to find the bracket.
