Yep. I have arleady located places at a slight drive that have them by word of mouth but no idea if they are Hexes or not. Have not checked any local places yet, but as a failsafe have a Hex or M44 Carbine picked out to order on Classic Guns, They seem to be the best price.. I think I'd still take a 91/30 round receiver but I'd want a pretty nice one

Well, I scored bigtime. Just happened to run across this local gunshops name. Out 2-3 miles in the woods on a back road and his sign on the main road is about a 1' square and faded so I had never heard of him.. Called him to see if he had one, and yup. 91/30 Hex in stock, excellent condition and cleaned. $239, which I thought was high but he said he only bought the best.. I got there and he did not lie. Stock is about as perfect as you could keep a 70 year old service firearm. Bore is clean and near perfect, barrel re crowned but not counter bored. Numbers matching ( not an obvious re stamp at least ), 1932 Tula.. I gladly paid the premium price, and I threw a box of 100 .22LR CCI mini Mags into the order because he had them at a reasonable $11.. Not only that, this guy is awesome to deal with.. Oh, and the gun itself is cleaned of the cosmoline. I have to clean the bayonet and other accessories except an extra ammo pouch which he threw in as a thank you and it's already clean.

It hit me that, I wanted a carbine version to go along with it ( not cutting this nice gun up ), so a little more searching proved that they just were not to be had locally. Ordered an M44 Carbine from Buds guns and have it going to another dealer for the FFL because the guy I got my 91/30 from does not do FFL transfers for online sales.. Going to bring it to him when I get it for service because he offers gunsmith services.
