Mother in Law

My Mother in law (Shirley) is having surgery on Friday.
She has a malignent tumour in her colon. All other tests were negative in other areas. She is 78 years old and we are keeping her in extremely good spirits right now. She is a wonderful caring and supportive lady and now she needs our help.
Please keep her in your thoughts during this difficult time.

My Stepmother just had a simmilar surgury. Be positive and your kids granma will be fine.

My mom went through this two years ago at 75 after a finding via a routine colonoscopy.
It was removed very successfully.
Ironically, she eats very healthy - yogurt, wheat germ, lotsa fiber, very little meat, etc.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I have just got home from the hospital and she is still in extremely good spirits. I will work on keeping it that way !!!!!!

Update on Shirley.
She had her surgery yesterday late morning. Unfortunately I was 3 hours away taking care of an issue at one of our plants. However I got back by about 7:30 p.m. She is still heavily sedated and drifting in and out. The doctor says he got it all and found nothing else anywhere. He is advising a chemo course as an extra precaution. We have not told Shirley this yet but will when she is more "with it" most likely this evening. We will be back to the hospital in a couple of hours and there for the day most likely. The nursing staff say she is doing fine and she will most likely be out of intensive care later today if there are no complications.
I will keep you posted as things progress further.

Just got back from the hospital. Shirley is doing really well. I told her about the chemo and she took it really well. All the hospital staff are very pleased with her progress as are we. We are now looking forward to a great Christmas with all the family together at our place. My parents, sister, brother in law and niece are all arriving on the 21st December from England to spend the holiday season with us in Canada.
Not that I like winter but it is going to happen whether I like it or not !!!!

Latest update on Shirley.
Doing really well. Eating well again, scheduled to go to a convalescent home this week. Just a question of which day. Her spirits are really good and she is talking now about plans for Christmas. This time last week she was not making plans for tomorrow !!!

Sounds like she is doing really well - glad to hear it! Take the grandbabies to see her when she is up to it. That's the best medicine of all!
