Re: motor adjusting knobs..

Hello.
Are you sure you have a Fleetwin? The twin is a 1956.The other 2 years a 7.5 'rude was made are '57 and '58.
The upper needle valve on your carburator is for slow speed adjustment. You can only fine tune it in the water while moving. But a rough adjustment goes as follows:Close the needle all the way but just lightly hand tight. Now turn it one and a half turns back. That is the rough adjustment.
The high speed needle is closed lightly all the way and then turned back about 3/4 of a turn.
When you take your boat on the water you put it in forward gear and at minimum speed. Now slowly close the needle until you have the highest rpm she will give you. Then turn it back open just a hair.Next rev her up all the way and start playing with the high speed needle the same way. When she runs at the highest rpm, open the needle back up just a hair too.Now you go back to the low end and give that a final adjustment.
There is a minimum rpm adjustment screw on the side of your engine, but you should only adjust that after you adjusted your carburator.
Hope this helps you.
