thanx people u have helped me out so much. ok my question i have a 115 evinrude v4 86 model. when i take off out the hole it takes for ever for the boat to plane or get on top of the surface back end drag stays in the water for ever. i took of the cover to the carb. and looked at the butterfly plates o the carb. they only open 1/4 of the way. shouldnt hey open just about all the way. feel thats why its so hard to get out of the whole. also when the throttle is full max it seems to have a lot more motor left. it seems like its still lagging power. a buddy of mine has the same motor year everything on abigger boat and it seems to fly and will out run me like im standing still.

Re: motor advice

Howdy, TX. When you checked your throttle plates, was the gearshift in Neutral? If it was, many engines have a block to prevent wide open throttle unless the engine is in gear.

If your engine was in gear, you have a linkage adjustment problem. Get a manual and follow the procedure in there.

If Your engine was in Neutral and when in gear it opens all the way, you have a different problem, very likely running on 3 cylinders. You need to tell us more details, like what boat you have, how it is loaded, etc.

Let us know what you find and we'll take it from there.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
