I got A 2.3L omc cobra in a 19'bluefinn that I just put a new floor in.The orignal floor had rotted letting the motor mounts sag.Now with all the floor and stuff replaced the engine sits up high and the engine cover rests on top of the air breather.I don't know if someone might have adjusted the mounts as it sagged thru the years or even if I got the same amount of floor and shiming under the mounts. The two rear mounts that are on the gimbal housing, I'm quite sure they havn't been touch. So to my question. Can I lower the front mounts to get the cover back on? does it make any difference on the outdrive?

Re: motor alignment

Plab,

The previous owner of my boat repowered from a 4.3 to 5.0. I had some work done on the boat and learned a bit about motor mounts. The rear mounts do not move and are stationary. The front mounts can be lowered and raised to align your motor with outdrive. This is VERY important and there is a special allignment tool to assist you with this. If you are doing it yourslelf you may be able to find one on ebay for $50-100. If you find yourself as low as you can go on your mounts you may have to explore other options. IE cutting down your decking some or buying shorter aftermarket mounts. Good luck and congratulations on your new floor!

SS182
