I would like to change out motors I have a 1984 seaswirl with a chevy 4 cyl. she is starting to cost way to much to keep running. what can replace her with ,a direct swap. have tried to locate same motor not happening.
Find out if your boat was available in a 5.0 or 5.7, and swap that way like I did.<br /><br />Making the stringer mounts is easy, and the swap works a charm. Just make sure your boat can deal with the weight.<br /><br />Just make sure you prop it right so your top speed MPH is within the boats capabiliies, though you'll prolly find the v8 has a similar RPM range<br />then your 4cyl. The increase in HP will give your straight line acceleration some improvement.<br /><br />-- Joe
