Hello All, First let me say that this site is awesome, a wealth of information. I am a first time boat owner, a little aluminum skiff with a 2004 Yamaha 15 horse four stroke.
I have a question about flushing the engine and possible impeller damage. I flushed the engine yesterday after an outing in the bay here in San Diego. I flushed the engine with using the flush mechanism, not the ear muffs, with the engine running. I had read the manual but must have missed the warnings about running the engine during flushing. Anyway, I found this site today and now realize I used the wrong procedure.
My question is how do i know if I have damaged the impeller without getting into the engine? If I put it on the earmuffs, run it and the I get water from the pee hole can i assume that the impeller survived my mistake?
Thanks for all your help.
Dave
