Motor identification

Can anyone help with identifying my boat motor? The boat is an 1984 Invader, On the carborator there is a metal tag that says, MCM 185, 3300-8886. On the out drive it says 3.8L. The motor is a v-6. Ive been told it's Mercruiser and also a GM 229. I want to order tune up parts and need to make sure I order the correct parts. Thanks...

Correct on both accounts... Is a GM 229, used by Mercruiser... Use Mercruiser 185 (GM 229) in the parts look up....
