I have a VIP with a 3.0L 135 HP. The motor runs good, but when we are running at top end or full throttle the motor backfires every once in a while. I noticed that the Tack is at about 5000 RPMS. Is this the proper RPM's for this engine to be running. It is running 40 MPH when this is happening and I just pull the throttle back till I am running about 35MPH and the backfire stops. This is with two people in the boat, and a few nessaries. The outdrive has a 19 pitch prop. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or should I just drive only at 35 MPH?
