motor jerks boat when throttle is half speed or higher

I was just told it is a 1980 chrysler 140hp outboard. When my throttle is half speed or higher it jerks every couple of seconds. The consistency is more at a higher rpm.<br />I have no clue and very new to boating.<br />Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you need a new clutch dog. It is very typical of any motor that has a lower unit out of adjustment to act that way under a load.
