Motor leaks down too far?

87 Force 125.I have read about all the tilt and trim problems with these units. Bad valve body...etc. If the motor leaks down as far as possible where the motor is past the straight up and down position, what is the cause of that? I've had a leak down problem for years, but always learned to live with it. It would leak down to where the motor is straight up and down. Now the motor will not even lift up and when I manually release the trailering bar, it goes all the way down where it's past that point.

Re: Motor leaks down too far?

the trim piston square inches plus leverage allows trim to hold position at about 1/10th the pressure of tilt (with engine turned off). Your valve body has deteriorated to the point where it is unable to deliver the pressure. It could be your orings in rams but I doubt it. Orings tend to blow out all at once and your description says this problem has been creeping up. 9 times out of 10 it will be the valve body.
