I have a 1983 Johnson 115hp V4. I notice a wobble in the motor and it will move back and forth and has gotten a little worse with each use. I took it to the boat shop to have it repaired and was told the upper motor mount was broke. Just wondering if 200 dollars was reasonable to fix it and if 100 dollars was reasonable to replace the lower unit shaft seals. Thanks for you time.

Re: motor mount

Most shops won't take the cover off for less than $200.00. Give some thought to doing it yourself. If you don't have a manual - get one or at least go to your library (reference section). They should have one - if not exact - close.

Re: motor mount

Price for the upper engine mounts sounds o-k I guess because he has to remove the powerhead. Not sure about the l/u seals.

c/6

Hooty

Re: motor mount

If a new mount doesnt fix it take a look at the nut on the bottom of the steering shaft tube. If its loose it'll act the same.

Good luck!
