Ok so hears the deal...bought boat with no motor. 351w came out so i got another 351w to go in.what do i do about motor mounts????Heres a pic of whats in there right now.Do i trash this and start over or do add to these???
Before you put in a new engine, you have some cleaning to do. Also at least check to make sure the bilge pump works, and pumps out, not in. Then replace that cracked hose. This is so much easier to do now versus later.
yah thanks guys. Im gonna clean it all up and replace hoses and what not...but how do i mount it.the parts in there dont bolt to a engine. Is there a website that somebody could recomend for motor mounts????
The boat is a 1976 waikiki 21ft with a volvo penta 280 outdrive.....the motor is a 351w going in. But the mount deals that are in there are like nothing ive seen.I would like to use them since they are in there.
looks like someone cheaped out and used an auto engine, and was to cheap to get proper mounts even, i can see a hole that looks like its from the original mounts under that thing....
not the best picture, but here you can see normal marine mounts
Definently ol' school mounts for gm car/truck and some old fords. they are pre-'70. Positive they weren't used in 76, I've pulled too many auto engines over the years to know. Back in the '40s-50's chrysler/dodge even used them. That mount looks homemade designed to use the block half off of a 69 or earlier GM or Ford mount. I think the 60's era Mustang used that style. I'll have to look later. Thank GOD I live next to a junk yard.
