I am in the need to begin the painful process of rebuilding my motor mounts in my 90 sea ray Sundancer. I guess my question is does anyone have any suggestions on what exact materials I need?

Your posting in the outboard section and not the I/O section or hull restoration.

However, remove motor, cut out fiberglass covering wood mounts, rebuild wood, redo fiberglass.

However most likely on uour 90 searay you will find that the stringers and bulkheads are rotten, along with the transom, and all your flotation foam is water soaked

Don't forget the rear motor mounts.
If one goes out it causes the alignment to shift either to port or starboard.
I kept thinking I did the transom wrong, but it checked out within tolerance.
I'm rebuilding them this weekend with my sons. Then we'll put the engine back in again.

I will used 1/2 inch threaded rod, nuts, washers. Also will need two 1/2" drive sockets, one is the size to fit in the top side to push out the old bushing (used 1' Craftsman socket and a 1-11/16 socket to catch the bushing when it falls out.

this is for a Mercruiser right? iboats should have them

Well I noticed that when I went to unthread the lags from the mounts that a couple of them were stripped out, not too bad though just enough to not get a snug fit when tightening them is all so I thought I would just re build the mounts them selves

Make some test drills. If you just have stripped lag bolt threads and clean, dry, and freah wood smelling wood shavings, simply go up one bolt size. If the hole is wallowed out, then drill a 1-1/4" hole, slather a 1-1/4 white oak dowel with epoxy and drive it in, in a day or so, sand flat, re-drill and install

If the shavings are wet, dark, and look like rotten mush....welcome to the restoration club

Word to the wise (not me thou)

The 1" socket worked great pushing the old motor mount bushing out. I was able to get the first one put in great, using the 1" socket. But on the second one I must not have had it center correctly. It mushroomed out the second bushing.

The top bore you were pushing against the spacer ring. The bottom bore is bigger. so you need to find a socket that will fit in it as a pusher. The old spacer ring may work pushing the new bushing into place. Will need to check.

Have another bushing on order. will get to it next week.
