Motor Mounts?

I just bought a 1984 Bayliner 1901 with a Penta 125AQ motor. I have to have the transom rebuilt due to
the weight of the motor pushing the plate through the bottom of the transom. Is this common?
Has anyone considered placing motor mounts at the front part of the motor to relieve some of the stress
placed on the transom?

The only reason the engine pushes through the transom is due to rot. When the wood in the transom rots, there is no more support.
You can put front mounts on, but even then you will not have support and things will leak.

Yeah, I was thinking about installing the motor mounts after the transom is rebuilt, to prevent the problem
in the future.

The mount isn't what caused the transom to rot, water did that.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... It works as designed, no need for re-engineerin' it, just replace the rotten wood...
