Re: MOTOR PROBLEMS

The Gale Buccaneer V Sovereign was made one year only, 1963. Gale Products, a division of OMC, produced private label brands including Ward's Sea King, Goodyear's Sea Bee, Western Auto's Western Flyer, and a number of others. Gale closed up shop in 1964. OMC sold to Bombardier in 2001. I have found some Gale parts at Laing's: http://www.laingsoutboards.com/

For a manual you might try Ken Cook: http://ww3.kencook.com/evinrudejohnsonmanuals/

Other sources for parts can be found at the Antique Outboard website (see the link below)on the home page go to Links, then scroll down to "For the old Outboard". It's a list of dealers who carry parts for antique/vintage outboards. Hope this helps.

Re: MOTOR PROBLEMS

While the "Old Outboard Book" lists a 60 only in
63. My aftermarket manual lists a 60 in 60 through to 63.I dont know which is right.Keep in mind many E/J parts from similar motors will fit.
The 50,60 and 65 V4s use 70.7 cu. in. blocks.
point gap is .020. plug gap .030.My manual indicates 50:1 mix when using TCW3 rated oil.
V4s 67 and earlier use J4C plugs.
