Motor Rotation

Replaced cracked block with block from suv. Old motor model # is 432APRGDP, which is Right-ward propeller rotation. I missed this little detail. The new motor turns counter-clockwise/impeller turns counter-clockwise when viewed from the rear and the flywheel turns counter-clockwise when viewed from the back. Can anyone enlighten me about this and is this going to work? Everything marine was changed except the long-block's. The marine starter is the same and starts the engine, Why? Should't the starter be rightward rotation turning the motor over the other direction? any insight is much appreciated. I cannot remember the actual direction the old marine engine turned. Wouldn't the water pump work circulate the wrong way as well?

impeller rotation

What direction should my impeller be rotating when viewing from the back on my 88' OMC Cobra 4.3l What role does engine rotation play? old engine model #432APRGDP did this motor rotate the impeller clockwise when viewing from the back or counter-clockwise? New block rotates impeller counter-clockwise when viewing from the back. Is this incorrect ?

Re: impeller rotation

Howdy,

It will turn in exactly the same direction as the engine (viewed from the back!)

It's a straight "shot" (direct drive) from the flywheel to the yoke and water pump.

propeller rotation

Is propeller rotation the same as engine rotation on my 88' OMC with the cobra out-drive?

Re: impeller rotation

Copy. So does it matter if it is turning counter-clockwise as far as the cooling system is concerned with regards to water flow and the engine water pump?

Re: Motor Rotation

the old motor and the new motor both turn the same way: counter clockwise (as viewed from flywheel end)
OMC never used clockwise turning engines, and neither did any GM SUV's

the propeller is not the engine

Re: impeller rotation

Copy thank you. Still trying to find out why This boat is still overheating on the water and not in the driveway. Must be a blockage or air leak somewhere... Thanks again for responding.
