Hey Guys

Now that things are FANTASTIC with my looper I want to see what else I should do.

I don't have GPS to verify speed and the speedo is usually clogged so speed is unknown.

I can say that I'm getting 6200+ rpm on the tach at WOT.

I'm running a 13 3/4x15 aluminum prop at the moment. I also have a 14x19 new alum prop I could put on. Is this the way to go? Will I go faster or get a better hole shot? Should I leave it alone?

The thing is that at WOT it still sounds like it wants to do more. I have to cut it back to get below 6k.

Should I be in the prop forum? Also, I know a lot of you don't like hydrofoils, but it has helped get my stern heavy boat up a lot faster.

J120TLESB

Thanks :)

Good job dude!!

It'd almost be a must that we get an accurate speed so we know where we are. But we can still do some testing. Yes, going to a 19 is the next step. Doing so we will lose some r's but then we'll work with the set up to gain the r's back and therefore gain speed & efficiency.

What's up with the aluminum stuff?

Well, I bought them from the dealer. I liked the idea of ruining the prop rather than the gearcase if I hit something. It's been my understanding that the SS props perform better, but are harder on the gearcase. Is this wrong thinking?

My cousin just got a GPS and I'll see if I can borrow it this weekend.

Stainless props aren't any harder on the gearcase than any other prop. The rubber hub protects the gearcase just like on an aluminum prop.

Great plan with the GPS.

Dhadley

Ok, I switched to the 19p prop and got my WOT rpm down to 5800. I was not able to connect with cousin to use the gps for a speed check though.

I'm thinking about venting the prop to improve my holeshot as it seems to take a while to turn up the rpms. Is this a good idea?

Thanks,
Alden
