motor size for boat

I picked up a 14 1/2' deep V, has a 65 hp Merc on it. The tag says recommended hp 55.. Am I OK to leave the 65 on it??

Exceeding the max HP on a boat is usually a bad idea for legal reasons. In your particular case, it is unusual for a 14.4' boat to rate a 55HP motor.

Are you saying that the rating is small? or should it be less than 55hp?
