Motor Stalls then dies

I have a 1985 OMC Cobra stern drive. It starts fine and runs fine for a little while, then it starts to loose power and then stops. It will start right back up and the process starts all over again. I have change the big fuel filter and the small filter that is in the side of the carberator. Any suggestions? Is this a fuel problem or something else. Thanks Greg

i just had the same problem and it turns out that i had water in the gas i poured alchohol into the gas and a quart of dry gas. Im in the process of running this stuff out now. After the alchohol now it will run at least.

Thanks for your reply. What type and how much alcohol did you use. Is it necessary? Does your boat run better now? I realize you have not run all the fuel through it. Thanks Greg

I have seen carburetors suck up sediment off of the bottom of the fuel bowl and clog the jets. When it shuts off it falls to the bottom and starts all over again.

i pourd a gallon of etheltyn alchohol in it and it is runnin better now
