Motor? Steering? Rigging? Torque steer?

Don't know if this is a boat issue, a motor issue, or an ignorance issue! I had my thirty-year-old-but-new-to-me boat out for the first time yesterday. While backing away from the dock, I noticed something funny. While the steering wheel has approx 3 turns lock to lock, the wheel turns two turns to the left but only about one full turn to the right (starting with the motor centered). Is this done intentionally because of prop torque or is this thing mis-rigged big time? Boat is a 1972 17' Crestliner v-hull, motor is a 1982 Merc 115. Any ideas? Thanks for all your help--without you guys I'd have never a) bought this project; b) gotten so much done; c) learned so much in the process!

Knot, sounds like your steering was not correctly setup when installed ... should have about the same amount of rotation from centered to full port and full stbd.

Thanks as always gentlemen! Adjusted linkage at motor so now I have 1 1/2 turns in each direction from center. Now the steering wheel spokes are horizontal with the motor centered too!
