Motor stumbles on takeoff

I have a 130hp Chrysler outboard. Over the 4th of July weekend I had a leak start on the fuel bowl of my carb. I ordered new kits. Very carefully I removed 1 carb at a time. Not to change anything on the linkage. I replaced the needle and seats set float hieght and installed new bowl gaskets. Also replaced the fuel pump diaphram. The boat has always been a little lazy until the rpm's come up. Now it has a bad stumble. The idle adjust screws where set a 3/4 turns out. The kit says to set them at 1 1/2 turns out. Would this cause my problem? Motor runs fine after the rpm's come up. Idles good also. But it is hard to get a ski or tube up on plane. <br />Thanks Jerry

Yes. If motor stumbles when gunning throttle it is set too rich. If it kills when gunning it then it is too lean. 1 1/2 is what the factory says but most times it is closer to 1 turn. I would try and turn the mixture screw clockwise 1/8 turn. Keep an eye on your plugs. If they are slightly grimy and oily that is good. You do not want to run the motor too lean. It is better to run it slightly rich.
