How much trouble would it be to swap my 95 hp l-drive force motor in a 1990 bayliner capri. I have a good running four banger out of a pontiac that looks just like the chevy engine I saw in another boat before. Is it practical.

First, there's no room for it. Second, you'd have to mount a horizontal motor vertically. Third, there are no parts available to do it, and Fourth, I seriously doubt the gearcase could handle the torq.

Re: motor swap

I assumed that you would have to replace the outdrive with one to match. I talked to one person who said he had a similar boat and had a v8 installed. It seems like a lot of work, but I don't like having a two cycle. I assume it would it would be easier to get my current engine running good sell it and buy a newer boat. And if that is the case, does any one know where to get good idea on what my boat may be worth. I paid 4,900 but I'm sure I got ripped on that deal.
