Im just entertaining they idea, I have the aq131d right now, if i wanted to upgrade just a little bit, but not go overkill. maybe a chevy 3.8 v6. other then having to get the marine external parts on it. Would it bolt up to my sterndrive? its a Volvo Penta 275. I chose the 3.8 cuz the weight difference from what i have looked up isnt that much more if not less, Plus just a little bit hp and torque increase.

Like i said just entertaining the idea since i probably need to rebuild this volvo motor i have. i would just preffer to rebuild this 85 chevy 3.8 my buddy has he will sell cheap.

Re: Motor Swap?

No, It will not bolt directly to the outdrive, you need another bell housing and another lowerunit(+ various bits & pieces), since the ratio is too low for the V6 engine. The 3.8 V6 should have 1.89:1, you have 2.15:1 ratio now.

The gears can be changed. But you shouldn't do it, unless you are familiar with the process of shimming helical cut gears.
