I think if you pull the cover off your 77'Rude,you'll find it has a large black main plug connector.This will not be adaptable.<br /><br />If by chance it is a large red connector, there were adapters available.Maybe you can still buy them.<br /><br />Either way,I would want a newer control doing the shifting,as opposed to an older,worn one.Newer engines shift a whole lot more positively,with very little throw.Your 1977 control has a lot of throw,even before it got 27 years old.<br /><br />A new control will run you $200 plus,and you need a wire harness between it and the motor.Also get two new control cables.<br /><br />Think about it this way.If you had a 1977 car with original tires,and bought a 1996 car,which tires would you want and trust on the 1996 ?<br /><br />DHP
