I have a 1989 Johnson 40hp motor. Just had the stator and rectifier replaced and no instead of the engine dieing at half throttle, the motor tilts down. Any ideads
Sorry, been busy. The tilt switch is on the side of the cowl and was just replaced this spring. My thought is the faulty wiring is the difference between the old stator and the new. The stator design was changed due faulty engineering in the late 1908s. My guess is that the old wiring schematic is different than the new one and that is causing the problem, but I can't find schematics for either one.
