I just bought a boat with a 1986 force outboard motor. I went and bought a new marine battery for it today and hooked it up. I turned the key and the motor turned over really slow like the battery was dead. but it can't be dead i just bought it. I turned it over a couple more times and the starter started smoking out the top. the starter was really hot and the power wire running to the starter was hot. I can turn the motor over by hand. i took the starter off and went and had it checked and the guy said it was o.k. I don't have any idea why it turns over so slow. the battery has 625 cranking amps. could it be a bad ground? need help

menser <br />Definitly check ALL the connections at the starter and Battery for good clean grounds. If the starter is good and the battery is good, must be a bad ground or defective wire.
