Shift lever out of neutral and give it throttle but won shift until almost half throttle, is this just as simple as a cble adjustment on shifter cable as it may be stretched our binding? 1978 115hp evinrude outboard. Sorry Newbie
I hope your RPM are not up to hi. It could go in gear at a low RPM. Something need adjustment or replaced . IF you go in gear at a hi RPM your gears are not going to be working very long . Dose it go in a rev, ok? If so may just need ajusted.
ya its revving a bit and clunks when it shifts into drive, im thinking drive cable(not sure if correct term) needs adjusting. its the same in reverse. i'm not able to drive very slow, makes it tricky manuevering around dock
It doesn't shift at low rpm only at about at a higher rpm and then it clunks or shifts hard cuz of higher rpms and is same in reverse which leads me to think its just a cable adjustment I'm hoping, I have no slow speed cuz it doesn't engage at all until 1/4 throttle. I'm going to look at control lever and cables this weekend. Thks
Oh I see, sorry Electrician over here when I hear bushings I'm thinking motor bushings lol. I will be tackling it it again on Saturday so will open her up and see. Thks
