Re: motor wont shut off??????????????

At switch: White wire to one "M" terminal and blue wire to other "M" terminal. At engine be certain both white wires from CD boxes are connected to white wire in cable to switch. Blue wire in cable must connect to blue terminal on engine. This is the one just above the ground. AND the blue terminal MUST be jumped to ground.

Turning the switch off connects the two "M" terminals and the white wires from the CD boxes are grounded, thus stopping the spark. If for any reason these wires can not be grounded, the engine will not stop running.

If it happens again, if the hood is off, just jump white to ground. If you can easily reach the switch, you can do it under the dash too.

Your saying you rewired your ignition switch, not the actual guages, correct?
You don't mention if this is your first time running the boat or if the motor would shut down with the key previously when the inition switch was turned off. I would recheck the wiring on your ignition switch to be certain that it is wired correctly. If wired correctly it could be that the ignition switch is bad providing it wouldn't shut the engine down before rewiring or it could be that the kill circuit in the harness or on the boat is bad.

Re: motor wont shut off??????????????

No I have had boat out for the last two years. Never had the gauges working though. So what I did was take existing ignition wires (already in boat) and switch them out with the wires on my ignition switch ( came with motor), Tested it and gauges worked and electric choke worked. So went to next step water. So from what I am reading I may have my magneto wire mis-wired. I will check this morning and see if that is the problem.

Thanks all

Re: motor wont shut off??????????????

I would go with Franks advice here. I had to replace an ignition switch on our boat 2 months ago and the motor would not turn off unless flipped the kill switch. It had to do with the magneto connections, all i did was switch the wires on the two magneto connections and everything was fine. I had to do this on a 1994 Mercury Force. I also have a 89 marine force that i had to put new ignition switch on too but had learned from the other boat about wiring. Good luck and follow Frank he has really good advice.
