I have a 1979 bass-master tri - hull boat with a 55 hp Johnson motor on it, I was needing some opinions about switching my 55 hp motor that is currently on my boat now with a 115 hp Johnson motor. would that be a over kill for my boat? or would it be ok? and would my electric tilt and trim mount up to the 115 hp motor just fine?

What are the max capacities for your boat? (coast guard plate)

look at the capacity plate (a 1979 should have one, mine did). If the max rating is 115HP or more you are good to go.

Nope. That boat is rated for 80 HP and the tilt and trim will not interchange with your motor either.
