Before you disassemble the motor, rotate the prop by hand (power disconnected please!!!!!!). You should feel a slight jerkiness due to the magnet action on the armature. You should NOT feel tightness or difficulty turning the prop. Tightness indicates the bearings have lost lubrication and or there is extensive corrosion and they cannot be saved. Remove the prop and check for fish line wrapped tightly around the shaft. Fish line can cut the shaft seal allowing water intrusion and also cause binding.. How long the water has been in the housing and whether it is salt or fresh water will determine the extent of damage. Just because you charged the battery, does not mean the battery is good. Charge it and have it load tested at any auto store (usually for free). Do the simple and free stuff first before tearing into the motor.
