Motorguide 730 bearing change - difficult?

I have a bent lower shaft or column on this trolling motor and was looking into changing the lower shaft and bearings, just wanted to know the does and don'ts of this operation. Looks like the lower shaft screws into the motor housing, and also attaches at the top of the shaft in the head of the trolling motor with a nut, looking at rusty screws that attach all this presently, and just wondered what I am getting into to make this repair, any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Brad
