Motorguide problems

I have an older motorguide lazer 320es. It has the foot petal that has constant, momentary left right and all that. Its not cable operated, has a wired "remote" type thing.

Anyway, it worked fine and suddenly the constant and momentary buttons don't work. It still works and if I hold slow till it stops I can make it stop. All the variable speed functions are there, it just wont shut off. If I turn it off with the on/off button it will "park" so its able to be pulled out of the water, it just doesnt stop spinning.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? I took the control apart and everything looks good and had no different results.

Re: Motorguide problems

One of three things can be the issue. 1) The "go" switch (the one on the pedal that you step on to start the unit in the MOMENTARY mode may be stuck. 2) If you have the unit in the CONTINUOUS mode the motor runs regardless whether you step on the "go" button or not. It is operating normally. 3) The relay in the head is seized in the activated mode. It will need to be replaced.

Didnt know there was a relay in there, that makes the most sense, seeing as it still turns after its turned "off"

Thanks for the info, i'll have to dig into and see
