Motorguide trolling motor stopped working

I was returning to the boat landing using my trolling motor. It was on setting 1 or 2. When I bumped it up to 5, it ran for about 1 minute, made a funny noise, and then stopped working completely. I checked the fuse (3 amp), which seems to be ok. Any idea what happened, and how I can fix it?

Welcome aboard.

My guess is that it died.

Check battery voltage, connections. Try to turn motor by prop. If it doesn't turn, my guess is the motor is frozen.

You said the "3 amp" fuse was good. No trolling motor will operate with a 3 amp fuse. You checked the wrong fuse if it is still good. The trolling motor likely has a circuit breaker near or at the battery positive terminal. If it is a manual reset type, push the button to reset it. And then make sure it is of adequate value for your motor.
