Little wiring issue. The first pic is how I originally wired my batteries. If I am correct, that would give me a longer 12v battery. Well I attempted to wire them together to get 24v, but fried the trolling motor plug. I order a new one, but it only has two wires on the receptacle, rather than the 4 wires on the original. What is the best way to wire the new receptacle and still be able to run my fish finder off of these batteries?

Re: Motorguide Trolling motor wiring

I can't get the pictures to load as to what was given to me on here. I have a tread "possible Javelin rewire" that has some diagrams on teh wiring posted by Silvertip and another gentleman. I initially was going to go for a 24v trolling motor changing from a 12v, but after going out this past week, I am going to stick with 12v and just go up in thrust on my trolling motor. From what I understand, you just need to add a jumper from one neg side to one pos side of the two trolling motor batteries. I'll see if I can update my original thread to make it easier to find. Hope it helps

Apparently, you can't. I was wanting to do the same, making a 24v battery system to operate my new 12v trolling motor, but everyone advised against it, citing catastrophe. So, I think I'm gonna leave it as is.

a few questions that have to be ans before any attempt of hooking this up is required

what kind of trolling motor (model and thrust)
does it have the 12/24v switch on the side of the trolling motor or is it 12v only
are you going to buy a breaker to stop the smoke before things burn up
are the batteries for trolling only or do you have a gas engine also using the batteries
24v trolling motors go faster they do not last longer than a trolling motor using 12v on 2 batteries
how many terminals on the trolling plug receptical. how many terminals on the male plug
can you pull the trolling receptical panel forwards to get a pic of the wires on the back of the receptical
can you get a pic of the wires at the batteries
