MotorHead question

I just checked the timing on my 93 merc 4.3 and if I am correct it was off by 2 degrees. Question one is, will 2 degrees make a noticeable difference?
Second question, Am I correct in assuming the timing tab marks are such: big notch (valley) is the 0 degree and then the first point is 2 degrees and next valley is 4 degrees.......so on.

At idle, while setting it, you might notice a 2? change. But nothing in operation.
