I have a 2002 Rinker Captiva 232 Cuddy that I'm installing a RayMarine Dragonfly unit on. Clockwise screw on a 5.7 L Merc. The transom is 8' wide, but there are trim tabs installed. It is 9" from the centerline to the starboard trim tab (book says mount on stbd side), then the tab is 10" wide. Mounting 3" stbd of the tab puts the transducer about half way between the centerline and the side of the hull. Will this work OK? Will the trim tab cause turbulence problems? How far toward the side can I go without risking the transducer coming out of the water on a turn?
