Mounting Depthfinder sending unit in hull

I have read and installed my sending unit according to instructions on the forum but the sending unit did not stick. The epoxy is still stuck to the hull but the sending unit came unglued. The bottom of the unit is still as shiny and slick as day one. Do I need to sand the bottom of the sending unit to get it to stick?

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Yes...you should roughen the surfaces up with some course sandpaper. If it fails again try another epoxy.

Did you at least solvent clean the transducer before mounting it.
The Release agent from the Molding process may have still been present.

Some plastics will not allow epoxy to adhere no mater what you do.
Spray painting the transducer is another option.
The paint will bond to the plastic and the epoxy will bond to the paint.
