If I'm in the wrong place with this post I apologize! Here goes I have a 1986 astroglass 175 v that I am trying to mount a 1990 force 90 hp motor on. The problem is the boat had a 150hp merc on it and two sets of holes in the transom. Earlier in the day when I tried to mount the motor on the boat the holes in the swivel bracket on the motor would not line up with the holes in the transom of the boat! I guess my question is should I seal all previous holes in the transom, and drill new ones or should I buy a jackplate and mount it using the old holes? Then try and see if the force will mount to the holes in the jackplate.

Mounting in the old hole probably won't work.
Fill them with wooden dowl coated in fiberglass resin.
Let them dry for a couple of days before you drill anywhere close to them.
If the holes on the jackplate line up,then use it as it will be a lot easier than trying to line up a motor.
I used an old mid section to make new holes for mounting.
Remember the cavitation plate should be even or real close to the bottom.
Too high and it will cvitate and too low and it won't perform right.
