Did the transom same thickness glassed it and glassed it to the hull. Installed everything just like it was from factory. The flexing is only in the splashwell. It think it because of where i cut to get access to the transom. I took it out about 10 times with no problem until the last time when i noticed a crack in the repair after a boat ripped by in front of me and couldnt miss thew wake my boat slammed down then i noticed the crark. Im gonna glass it in more. Im just wondering if i should reinforce it

Re: movement of transom in splashwell

If I am understanding you correctly, your transom is flexing in the middle with the weight/movement of the engine. If this is the case, I can tell you what I did on a friends boat to remedy this problem until we have a chance to fix the transom perminently. I bought a piece of 3x3 aluminum angle and cut it to fit just inside of the gunwales. I then supported the engine with a floor jack and removed the upper mounting bolts. I clamped the angle to the transom covering the upper mounting holes. I then drilled holes in the angle throught the existing holes in the transom where the bolts were and reinstalled the bolts through the engine mount transom, and new angle. This created the stability that the transom needed. Seems to be working well.

That's really rough mate. Whatever you do, don't take this boat out until the problem's been sorted. I believe you'll have to redo the transom, not what u want to hear i'm sure. Check out some of the threads on here for some really good advice.

Good luck

Try filling/clamping in the split with PLP premium construction adhesive. That stuf is a hard and durable as steel.

I would say replace it, not what you want to hear I know, but if it's split I wouldn't trust my motor my life or that of any passengers to some sort of 'shade tree fix'.

Pictures are worth a 1000 words and result in more appropriate suggestions. ;)
