I have a 19p stainless prop on my boat. I can find out the diameter, I am just not certain the best way to measure? I can grab all the numbers off of it and maybe that will tell me?

I can get this SS 14 3/4" prop 22* pitch cheap from a friend. I was wondering if you guys think I will overshoot the sweet spot?

The original owner used it mainly as a ski boat, and I think changed the prop accordingly.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. too high RPM@WOT running approx 5300 at 50mph, thinking I need to bring that down to 46-4800?
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum. Stainless quicksilver
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required). Diameter approx 14" 19p
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)5300 at 50mph
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP Mercruiser 260/Alpha 1 1978 260
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
Wellcraft Nova 1978 21'6" 3750 lbs dry.

If your current 19" spins to 5300 then 22" is going to be close. Several other variables, but it should get you in the right neighborhood.

I guess since it's cheap I can take a chance on it. I will save my 19 for a backup.
