Moving to Salt Water

I have a 1993 7.4L Mercuriser that has always been in fresh water. I may be moving to Virginia and am wondering if anything has to be changed on the engine (or boat Cruisers 2670) for salt water operation?

Nope, but you are going to need to flush it with fresh water after each use....
You will need to pay close attention to the manifolds & risers, salt water wreaks havoc on them....
If they have never been changed, I would think about it soon.....JK

What part of virginia are you moving to?
Is your engine raw water or fresh water cooled?

If your engine is raw water cooled, manifolds will have to be changed every 3 to 4 years for preventive maintainance. Don't neglect them or you'll be buying a motor and manifolds.

and buy lots of corrosion block and use it like you would spray paint, if its shiny, spray it

DonS has a volvo part number for a corrosion spray/film. Hadn't been able to go that route yet, but I'm sure it's better than the corrosion block for the motor.

We're moving back to Tidewater. I think we will look in the Surry and Smithfield areas. Maybe we'll get lucky and find someplace to keep our boat on the water close by.

If you can trailer your boat go that route. I live on the water and still trailer mine as the salt water kill`s it.
