hey all im in the process of redoing my boat. i am going to ad speakers and a sub and i was wondering if anyone has had experience with mtx marine speakers and subs and if they are able to run well without a box behind the cone
Are you wanting to run the subs with no box? A lot of marine subs are suitable for free air use but, usually sound better in a box. Where are you planning to mount them?
I think you'd be fine with no enclosure for those. Or if you wanted you can get foam baffles that act as an enclosure and keep moisture off the back of the speaker.
When you get to the sub, I recommend an enclosure.
