What's the best style ear muffs to use on a 225HPDI with the low water pick-up? I have the round suction cup type and they just don't seal very well. Any suggestions??

Re: Muffs and Low Water Pick-up

I use the oval type on my F115... they don't seal either but they work well. I lower the leg into a large 20 gallon (council provided recycling container) tub, then fit the muffs, then turn on the water fairly hard, then start the motor. Almost immediately the telltale starts peeing - I collect the peestream in a 2 gallon bucket. The tub fills up and when the water level is well above the intakes I disconnect the hose from the muffs and remove them. I then let the motor run for about five minutes using the water from the tub. Once the bucket is full I turn her off - then use the now warm water to wash the boat.

I have the rectangle type, and they work well, ya gotta wet em and push em on there when lined up and they stay pretty good. Then I turn the hose on just to the point where the flow is starting to seep out the sides of the muffs....start the motor.....and slowly increase water to the muffs until Im just about overflowing the muffs again....and waalaaa.....water coming out!!
