Muffs?

I hear alot of talk about muffs..<br />I have a port to hook up my hose to the back of my motor, are the muffs still needed?

You need to provide water to the impeller... If you don't the impeller will quickly be destroyed... <br /><br />The port you are refering to is probably only to flush the motor while it is not running.

I hear you, but I've run this motor for at least an hour total over the last 4 years like this with not impellor damage. <br />It is a merc 150 efi, 2000. Anyone know?

Yes, and I checked the manual..it states that it is a flushing port, but it was ok to run the motor at idle while using it...but not to use a water source over 45psi..
