This subject came up a while back. Someone had purchased the expensive, original German version. I immediately saw the sense in it but was not about to spend the bucks.

Well, last week I got a Harbor Freight mailer and on the cover was a coupon for the cheapo version, for a whopping $34.00. I just happened to have a need for one at that very moment so I jumped on down to my local HF and picked one up.

It did a fabulous job. Don't know how long it will last or how good and durable the attachments are, but my one job was worth the price of it.

Thought I would just pass it along.

Hi there

So, I just saw this tool on a HF circular I got. Now that you have had it for a couple of months, do you have a different opinion of it? What type of job did you use it for, and how did it perform overall?

I am trying to replace the deck on my tri-hull, and thought this tool would be just the trick to really trim out the rotted fiberglass/wood.

I've just used it the one time after I bought it. I needed it to trim some wood in the corner of a shed door frame. There was absolutely no other way to trim it neatly because the face of a 2 x 4 was immediately behind the plywood panel I needed to trim. Being plywood, it was pretty tough and the tool did it just fine.

I have had many things over the years I could have used it for and I am sure there will be many more in the future. I just don't think you can go wrong for the price. I picked up a couple of extra of the common blades while I was at it.

I would never try to use it where I could get the blade of another type of tool but if you are in a blind corner or need to sand in corner or even need to cut where you cannot have a blade extend beyond what you are cutting, this is the tool.

I do handyman work...Yup, I use it alot. A bathroom floor with rotted wood, I use a circular saw to cut the bulk of it, and the HF tool to take it to the wall, with no damage to the wall....Great tool. Will it last? Who cares, its already paid for itself. I have a HF Hammerdrill, too. It wouldnt last using it daily, but its currently 2 years old, used every week or so.....I love that store!!!

I have the Dremel version that I bought at Home Depot for about $100. IT is a great tool. I have used it for cutting trim against a wall - saved a bunch of time vs removing the trim, cutting it, reinstalling and touching up paint. I have also used to rework some defects in a marble floor. I used the grout tool (about $30) and it did great. I also used it to cut the grout under the tile so I could pop it up with a prybar. Also used it for a good bit of sanding. The thing I like the most is you CAN NOT cut yourself with it.
