not really a restoration as you can see even for a 30 year old boat it is in mint shape. the previous owner took extremely good care of it!! i am in the middle of ripping the carpeting out of it and am going to have the inside of the boat bedlined by a shop here locally. the engine is out due to the exhaust o-ring seal on gimbal started leaking. while the gimbal is out i am rebuilding the entire gimbal unit. last year i had replaced ALL seals in the upper and lower unit, had the prop re-hubbed and balanced. this is just a log if you will of my progress. the boat is going to the shop for thursday to get sprayed.
upon reinstall of the engine i will be re-wiring the trim pump unit and anything else.
some pictures show the condition of the boat and some are of prepping and rebuilding. more to come through this week!!
transom hole - clean dry yellow wood
transom drain plug hole that i dug out as i filled it with peanut butter and then drilled through it so NO wood will ever be exposed to water
i sanded away the factory black waterproofing paint - this is the BOTTOM of the transom keyhole and again - clean dry yellow wood
i fiberglassed the entire keyhole to protect it from any water that may fall into it
i cut away some of the engine mount skin to inspect the condition. they are still solid though hard to tell it was still good wood
NUWAVE marine stainless upper swivel shaft pin
ZINC CHROMATE PRIMER
peanut buttered transom drain plug hole - i put 2 layers of fiberglass over it to cap it off nicely but i didnt get pictures just yet
new seal and bearing - i will finish off with more black paint around all the seal holes
all masked off for the spray in bed lining - just needs a final wipe down. the windows have been masked off as well
